Kokkari samos illustrations and must places to visit in Samos

Samos is one of the most beautiful islands in Greece. It is big, has beautiful beaches and villages and amazing food. Below illustrations are inspired by the picturesque village of Kokkari in the northern part of Samos island (Greece). Kokkari along with Pythagoreio are the two most popular and beautiful villages to visit for food and drinks in Samos island.

When you visit Kokkari, remember to drink banana smoothie or melon smoothie made with the famous Samos Vin Doux, the No. 1 sweet wine in sales in Greece.   

Must beaches to visit are:

• Mykali beach (south-east),

• Lemonakia,

• Tsabou & Tsamadou (North),

• Marathokabos & Psili Amos (South),

• Potami (Karlovasi in the north-west),

• Potokaki (close to the airport),

• Glykoriza and Kerveli (very picturesque).

You can find tasty food all over the island. Some places I recommend are “The Fishers” (Kontakeika), Dionysos (Karlovasi), to kyma (Agios Konstantinos) where you can eat the best onion-pie, Cohyli in Ireon Village (close to Pythagoreio). Do not forget also to eat ice-cream at Kypseli patisserie (Agios Konstantinos).From Samos, you can also travel to Kousantasi (around 1,5 hours) and Smirni, as well as Patmos and Leros (dolphins depart from Pythagoreio).There are also two famous sites to visit, the waterfalls in Potami (Karlovasi) and the Tunnel of Eupalinos in Pythagoreion.
